Question: How can I change the sender phone number?

When somebody receives an SMS message from me, I don't want him to see my phone number. Instead of the sender phone number he should see short text.

Answer:

GSM SMS technology makes it possible to change the sender address in the SMS message. You can specify a phone number or a word up to 16 characters in length. The sad thing is that this is only possible if you use an IP SMS connection. You have to connect directly to the SMS Center of the GSM service provider through the Internet using the SMPP, UCP or CIMD2 protocols.

You can read more about this on the following page: Changing the sender phone number dynamically.

If you use a GSM phone or GSM modem attached to your PC to send the messages, you cannot change the sender phone number.
