Question: What can I do if the OZEKI Message Server service can not start and this may be the problem keeping the message (Finalizing your installation) hanging on and waiting for the service to be started?

The installation process went fine, but as usual the (Finalizing your installation) message was displayed all the time and untill this moment we can see it.

Answer:

The problems you have said is due to the fact, that the service cannot start for some reason. I suggest you to do the following on one of the Windows XP machines:

1.) Perform a full uninstallation.

This means, that you uninstall every Ozeki Software from your computer. After the uninstallation make sure the following directory is deleted:

C:\Program Files\Ozeki.

Delete the following registry keys from the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ozeki

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ozeki

2.) Disconnect your GSM device from the serial port.

3.) Reboot your computer

4.) Install the Ozeki Message Server 6 software to your PC.

5.) Check the service in the Service Manager menu.

If the service is not running after installation. Send us all the log files from the following directory: C:\Program Files\Ozeki\Ozeki Message Server\Logs in e-mail. It is good if you can create a zip file. We will check the logs and will try to find out the errors.

6.) Try to run the service in application mode:

Go to the Ozeki Message Server 6 directory using a windows command prompt:
cd C:\Program Files\Ozeki\Ozeki Message Server\
issue the following command:
MessageServer.exe /run

7.) If the problem is still not solved, on of the following error reasons are highly probable:
- You might have a software installed on one of your PC-s that does not allow Ozeki Message Server 6 to operate.
- You might have very strict security settings, that do not allow editing files and creating directories in the Program Files directory. Although often it is not possible, the next step in troubleshooting would be to install a Windows XP.
